The Braves have optioned right-hander Bryce Elder to the minor leagues and called up southpaw Dylan Dodd, but right-hander Spencer Strider will actually take Elder’s spot in the rotation upon his activation from the injured list. Strider, who missed nearly all of last season due to surgery and faced a hamstring injury early this season, is expected to enhance the Braves’ rotation, which already includes Chris Sale and other promising arms. The Braves, currently 24-23 and in pursuit of a playoff spot, are hopeful for Strider’s return to form alongside key players like Ronald Acuña Jr. and All-Stars Ozzie Albies and Michael Harris II.
