Right-hander Beau Burrows, who began the season with los Tecos de los Dos Laredos in the Mexican League, has signed a minor league deal with the Pirates. A former first-round pick by the Tigers in 2015, Burrows has struggled with injuries and performance in recent years, including a lackluster showing in the Mexican League this season; however, his improved velocity has caught the attention of scouts. The Pirates may benefit from his potential, as Burrows heads to Triple-A Indianapolis, where he could earn a call-up if he improves his command.
