The Baltimore Orioles announced that lefty reliever Walter Pennington cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Norfolk after being designated for assignment due to the acquisition of Luis F. Castillo from Seattle. The 27-year-old, previously released by the Rangers, has struggled with control in his appearances, walking six of ten batters and allowing seven runs in one inning. Despite his recent challenges, Pennington, who has a solid track record from the previous season, could serve as valuable depth for the Orioles if he regains his form.
