The Texas Rangers have signed right-hander Cory Abbott to a minor league deal, where he will initially serve as a starter for their Triple-A affiliate. Abbott, 28, has struggled in the majors with a 6.02 ERA over 104 2/3 innings but has performed well in the Mexican League this season, posting a 2.40 ERA in 15 innings. He is among several experienced pitchers the Rangers have recently added as injury concerns arise in their rotation, joining Robert Dugger and Ty Blach in their minor league system.
