At the 2015 NBA draft, the Detroit Pistons debated selecting either Stanley Johnson or Devin Booker with the No. 8 pick but ultimately chose Johnson, despite Booker’s local ties and desire to join the team. Booker, noted for his shooting ability and compared to Klay Thompson, had a strong performance at Kentucky but fell to the Phoenix Suns at No. 13. He has since become a multiple All-NBA selection and played a key role in leading the Suns to The Finals in 2021.
