The Texas Rangers are demoting Jake Burger to Triple-A and promoting first baseman Blaine Crim, who will need his contract selected as he is not on the 40-man roster. To create space for Crim, the Rangers will designate shortstop Nick Ahmed for assignment. Burger’s performance has been subpar, hitting .186 with a 55 wRC+ in 105 plate appearances, leading the Rangers to allow him to “reset” in the minors, although they hope to bring him back soon after the mandatory ten-day stay.
