Evan Mobley has been named the 2024-25 NBA Defensive Player of the Year, marking his first win in this category. The Cleveland Cavaliers star averaged 18.5 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks over 71 games, contributing significantly to his team’s success as they secured the Eastern Conference’s No. 1 seed with a 64-18 record. Mobley, who previously earned All-Defensive First Team honors and his first All-Star selection this season, will see his rookie extension increase from $224 million to $269 million due to this accolade.
