The Chicago Cubs are acquiring veteran reliever Drew Pomeranz from the Seattle Mariners, according to sources reported by The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal. The specifics of what the Mariners will receive in return are currently unknown; however, Pomeranz was signed to a minor-league contract by Seattle just before Opening Day and has not played in the majors since 2021. The 36-year-old has a connection with Cubs manager Craig Counsell, having previously played under him during part of the 2019 season with the Milwaukee Brewers.
