Atlanta Braves right-hander Spencer Strider is set to make his first big league start against the Blue Jays after undergoing surgery in April 2024 to repair the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow. Activated from the injured list, Strider had a successful rehab start at Triple-A, where he struck out 13 batters in 5 1/3 innings and showcased impressive velocity. His return comes as the Braves aim to improve from a sluggish start, with Strider having previously recorded a 20-5 record and 281 strikeouts in the 2023 season.
