Head coach Raheem Morris announced that rookie Michael Penix Jr. will take over at quarterback for the remainder of the season, leading to the inevitable split with Cousins, who signed a four-year, $180 million deal with the Falcons in the offseason after spending six seasons with the Minnesota Vikings.
