MLB rumors: Yankees set meeting with Roki Sasaki, Teoscar Hernández seeking deal worth more than $65 million

Juan Soto signing with the Mets led to Cody Bellinger being traded to the Yankees. The Yankees are set to have a meeting with Japanese pitcher Roki Sasaki, who is considered one of the most talented pitchers in the world. Sasaki will not sign with a team until the 2025 international signing period opens on Jan. 15. He will be limited to a minor-league contract due to being under 25 and subject to international bonus pools. Free-agent outfielder Teoscar Hernández is looking for a three-year contract worth $22 million to $24 million annually. The Dodgers are interested in bringing him back, but the Blue Jays and Red Sox are also in the mix. Hernández’s shorter contract length is appealing compared to fellow free agent Anthony Santander’s five-year request. The Dodgers need another outfielder due to Mookie Betts moving to shortstop in 2025. Despite initial expectations of Hernández rejoining the Dodgers, his current asking price may be a hurdle for the team.
