New York Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin has signed an eight-year contract extension with an average annual value of $11.5 million, making him the highest-paid player at his position in NHL history, surpassing Artemi Panarin. Shesterkin, 28, was the team’s fourth-round pick in 2014 and won the Vezina Trophy in the 2021-22 season. The Rangers, currently fourth in the Metropolitan Division, traded Jacob Trouba to the Anaheim Ducks to clear cap space for Shesterkin’s new deal.
