Washington Capitals star Alex Ovechkin is closing in on becoming the NHL’s all-time goals leader, currently at 860 goals and needing just 34 more to surpass Wayne Gretzky’s record of 894. Despite a lower goal-scoring season in 2023-24 with 31 goals, Ovechkin has consistently been a dominant force with at least 41 goals in 13 of his 19 NHL seasons. With Ovechkin on pace for 52 goals in the 2024-25 season, CBS Sports will be monitoring his progress as he aims to make history.
